A team from the Birmingham office of law firm DLA Piper swept to victory in this year's Midlands Corporate Ski Challenge held at Tamworth Snowdome. Nick Jew, Craig Armstrong and Nicky Randle took the plaudits after beating off 50 or so other challengers. For the last couple of years the event ran very successfully in Villars, Switzerland, but, in a concession to the recession, 2010 saw it came home to the Midlands.

Local dignitaries and emergency response agencies from as far away as Pennsylvania, congratulated Vails Gate for its 100 years of service to the community. A federal court judge has dismissed the Town of New Windsor from a lawsuit filed by the City of Newburgh last year in relation to Brown's Pond. The city named the town in the lawsuit along with Sarna Enterprises, Inc., the developer of Mount Airy Estates, also known as "The Reserve". The city alleges the Clean Water Act was violated when brown stormwater was discharged in the pond. U.S. District Court Judge McMahon dropped New Windsor from the suit last month because the town was not a proper party.

RUSH hour commuters are facing delays to their journeys on one of the area's busiest routes this evening, after an earlier vehicle fire. Traffic is being held up along the A12 Eastern Avenue in Wanstead following the incident, after police closed one lane of the road between Preston Drive (George Green Tunnel) and the A406 North Circular (Redbridge Roundabout). The fire has been put out but the emergency services are still on the scene.
